How to sign up

You can create an account in two ways.

Sign up with Google

  1. Go to Sign up.
  2. Choose Sign in with Google.
  3. Complete the Google login flow.

This is the fastest option because you do not need a separate password or confirmation code.

Sign up with email

  1. Go to Sign up.
  2. Enter your email and password.
  3. Enter the verification code from the confirmation email.

Your password must be at least 12 characters and include three or more of the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Joining from an invite link

If another player sends you an invite link, open that link and register from the invite page. You can still use Google or email signup. Invitations can also reward the person who invited you with hand credits.

The Lounge: your home screen

After signing in, you land in the Lounge. This is the main hub of the app.

From the Lounge, you can access:

Game mode 1: NLH Quick

NLH Quick is the main matchmaking mode for No-Limit Texas Hold'em practice.

The basic flow is:

  1. Open NLH Quick from the Lounge.
  2. Matchmaking begins.
  3. When enough players are seated, the hand starts automatically.
  4. Choose fold, call, raise, check, or bet when action reaches you.
  5. After a hand ends, continue to the next one.

NLH Quick is the best mode if you want to put in volume and practice standard Texas Hold'em decisions.

Useful in-game tools

During play, you can use:

  • Stack display in chips or big blinds (BB)
  • Sound settings
  • Stats overlay for your own tendencies
  • Player labels for quick notes on opponents
  • Preflop and postflop bet presets from Settings

Bet presets are especially useful because they make common raise and bet sizes easier to apply without typing amounts every time.

On PC, you can play up to two NLH Quick tables at once (multi-tabling).

Game mode 2: NLH Win The Button

Win The Button is a Texas Hold'em variant where the winner of the previous pot becomes the dealer button on the next hand.

This changes the normal rhythm of position. If you win pots, you can keep the button and enjoy the strongest position more often.

In nlh.poker, NLH Win The Button has its own tracking:

  • Separate statistics tab
  • Separate profit and EV graph
  • Rating updates from WTB play
  • Titles based on button wins

This mode is useful if you want to practice positional pressure in a more dynamic format. For rules details, see What Is Win The Button in Poker?.

Game mode 3: NLH Private Table

NLH Private Table lets you create a table or join one with a code. It supports up to six players.

Use private tables when you want to:

  • Play with friends
  • Run a study session
  • Practice specific spots in a controlled group
  • Avoid random matchmaking

Private table hands also have their own statistics tab, so they do not get mixed with NLH Quick or Win The Button results.

Hand history: review every hand

Hand history is one of the most important features for improvement.

A hand record can show:

  • Date and time
  • Stakes and blind level
  • Starting stack
  • Hole cards
  • Board cards
  • Your position
  • Profit or loss in BB
  • Action across streets

You can use hand history to review close preflop decisions, big pots, difficult river calls, and hands where you were unsure.

By default, the list shows only hands with postflop action. Turn the filter off if you also want to review hands that ended preflop.

Downloading hand history

nlh.poker supports hand-history export in PokerStars-style format. You can download:

  • All hands from today, or
  • Selected hands using checkboxes

This is useful if you want to import hands into external study tools.

You can also save a hand as an image from the list. Links to GTO Wizard (experimental) are available from hand history and in-game. An external account is required, and the feature may change or stop without notice.

Hand history is automatically deleted about two weeks after the day you played. Bookmark or download important hands before they expire.

Bookmarks: save hands for long-term study

Bookmarks let you save hands that you want to keep beyond the normal hand-history window.

Use bookmarks for:

  • Big pots
  • 3-bet pots
  • All-in hands
  • River bluff-catch decisions
  • Hands where you were unsure
  • Hands you want to discuss with friends

A simple habit is to bookmark any hand where you cannot clearly explain your decision. That gives you a focused review list after each session.

Statistics: find leaks with VPIP, PFR, and more

The Statistics screen shows results, EV by position, and HUD-style stats by game type.

You can switch between tabs such as:

  • NLH Quick
  • NLH Win The Button
  • Private tables

This matters because each mode can produce different tendencies and results.

Chart period and rating

Charts can be filtered to 7, 30, 60, 180, or 365 days, or all time. The default is 30 days. Profit/EV and EV by position use the same period.

The rating chart on the same screen shows how your display rating moves. Ratings update daily at 6:00 AM JST.

Key stats for beginners

StatMeaningWhy it matters
VPIPHow often you voluntarily enter the potHigh VPIP often means playing too many hands
PFRHow often you raise preflopA big VPIP/PFR gap often means too much calling
3-betHow often you re-raise preflopShows how often you fight back against raises
C-betHow often you bet the flop after raising preflopHelps review aggression and board selection
Profit/EVResults and expected value trendHelps separate decisions from short-term variance

For a deeper explanation of VPIP and PFR, see What Are VPIP and PFR?. To read profit and EV graphs, see Poker Stats Graph Explained.

EV by position

Using the same period and game mode as the profit and EV graph, you can see expected value for each seat. The point is to find which seat is losing expected value.

Seats are listed as UTG, MP, CO, BTN, SB, and BB. Each row shows EV (bb/100) and the number of hands. EV (bb/100) is how many big blinds of expected value that seat produces per 100 hands. A seat with no hands in the selected period shows a dash.

Compare with your rating class

On NLH Quick and NLH Win The Button, your stats over the last 10,000 hands are compared with the median and middle 50% of players in your rating class. Private tables have no rating class, so this comparison is not shown there. For how to decide which row to change, see how to compare your stats with your rating class.

The nine stats are:

  • VPIP
  • PFR
  • Limp
  • AF / AFq
  • Postflop AF / AFq
  • WTSD / W$SD

Each stat is marked Low, In range, or High against that class's middle 50%. This is a position in the range, not a grade of good or bad. Stats with fewer than 30 opportunities show the number only and are not judged. Distributions update daily at 5:00 AM JST. The comparison stays hidden until you have a rating class, and also when that class does not yet have enough players.

Study: four-choice practice questions

Study is where you practice poker decisions as four-choice questions. Open it from the Lounge and pick one of four answers.

The questions available now ask you to read table stats such as VPIP and PFR, then choose a response. The four-choice format stays; the topics can grow beyond stats.

How to start a question

Filter by:

  • Category: overview, preflop, flop, turn, or river
  • Difficulty: beginner, intermediate, or advanced

Choose Next question. Questions that use stats show the related numbers beside the prompt. If you miss, you can pick again until the answer is correct.

Rewards

Nuts are paid only on the first correct answer for that question. The Nuts arrive as a Gift, so claim them from Gifts in the Lounge. Solved questions stay available as review, with no extra reward. After a correct answer you can read the explanation and see what share of players picked each choice on their first try.

DifficultyNuts on first correct answer
Beginner+60
Intermediate+120
Advanced+180

Shop

In the Shop, you can buy items with Nuts.

Lucky Draw: spend Nuts on titles

Lucky Draw spends Nuts on titles. Equip a title from Settings after you obtain it.

  • Single draw: 500 Nuts
  • 11-draw: 5,000 Nuts. At least one SR or higher is guaranteed.

Pity guarantees an SSR on the 60th draw and resets when an SSR appears. A duplicate title returns Nuts based on rarity.

RarityDrop rateDuplicate Nuts
COMMON31%10
UNCOMMON35%30
RARE25%100
SUPER RARE8.5%300
SSR0.5%1,000

Clans

From Clan in the Lounge, you can create a group of up to 50 players. Each player can belong to only one clan.

  • Create one with a tag, a name, and a description. The tag cannot be changed later
  • Join by accepting an invitation, or by finding a clan and applying
  • Members-only chat shows the latest 50 messages. Messages older than 3 months are deleted
  • New posts can arrive as push notifications from Settings
  • The master can optionally add a Discord invite link

For how to create a clan, how to join, and the limits, see the clan guide.

Settings: make play faster and clearer

Settings include gameplay and account options.

Important settings include:

  • Stack display: chips or BB
  • Preflop raise presets in BB
  • Postflop bet presets as a percentage of the pot
  • Player labels
  • Sound options
  • Username changes
  • Password and account settings

Preflop and postflop presets are especially helpful for practice. They reduce friction and help you use consistent bet sizes.

Hand credits

nlh.poker uses hand credits. Each completed hand consumes one credit.

You can earn credits through:

SourceCredits
Daily login bonus+1,000
Friend signup through your invite+5,000
Invitation milestonesAdditional bonuses
Poker study support campaignsCampaign-based bonuses

If your balance reaches zero, you cannot start another hand until you receive more credits.

How to use nlh.poker as a study tool

The best way to use nlh.poker is not just to play. Use it as a practice loop.

A simple practice routine

  1. Choose one focus before playing.
  2. Play NLH Quick or another mode.
  3. Bookmark hands where you were unsure.
  4. Review those hands after the session.
  5. Check VPIP, PFR, major stats, and EV by position, and compare your stats with your rating class on NLH Quick or Win the Button.
  6. Answer a few four-choice Study questions, then claim the Nuts from Gifts.
  7. Choose one leak to fix next time.

Examples of good session goals:

  • Stop open-limping preflop
  • Fold weak offsuit hands from early position
  • Review every hand where you call a river bet
  • Check whether your VPIP is too high
  • Practice using consistent bet sizes

Small, specific goals work better than vague goals like "play better." For a structured daily plan, see 30-Minute Poker Study Routine.
